Ever wanted to collaborate on your survey with colleagues? We are pleased to announce that Bob now supports sharing your surveys with co-workers, lab partners, and anyone else! This allows you to create surveys, then share them with others. You can decide if you want to share “View Only” access, or give them full “View and Edit” access. View Only access lets them track the real-time results as they come in. They can also copy your survey template, then distribute their own version of the survey. View and Edit access enables others to access your survey, make edits, and even distribute.
Sharing a survey is really easy. Just select your survey, click on “Sharing,” enter the email address for the person you want to share with, select their access type, and click Save. Your colleague will receive an email with a link to the shared survey. If they already have a SurveyBob account, they’ll be taken straight to the survey. Otherwise they’ll need to first create their account, then click on the link to access the survey.
Piece of cake! Take it for a spin and let us know what you think.

4 New SurveyBob.com Releases!
Bob has been mutating every few weeks lately, he is just so eager to please! Here is a summary of the many cool updates.
January 18, 2010 - Major performance improvement on Results report
This is actually my favorite of the recent upgrades. Up until 2 weeks ago, this report had always exhibited satisfactory performance. Then came a particular busy fortnight, including a survey that resulted in nearly 100,000 responses in a relatively short time period. This tested the limits of Bob's survey results report. The combination of LOTS of data along with thousands of requests per hour caused Bob to perform abysmally for a few hours. As soon as we pinpointed the issue, we set to work improving the report. While it had been taking a whole 60 seconds to run the report for the survey with nearly 100,000 responses, it now runs in less than one second. This is a massive improvement that will ensure stability for even the largest of surveys. Woohoo!
January 8, 2010 - Elegant question editing and deleting
Once your survey has received a response, each question that has received a response becomes "locked" to preserve data integrity. Questions that have received responses become non-editable. You can now more easily reset your survey results to 0 so that you could continue editing your survey you had to make a fresh copy. Just go the Results page for your survey and click the Reset Results link at the top of the page. Confirm that you wish to delete all of your survey data, then return to the Edit screen and you are good to go! This is the option people use when they were just taking their survey for a test run and the data wasn't worth saving.
If you want to keep your survey results, but nevertheless wish to distribute a new version of your survey, you might still consider copying your survey. The old survey with its results still exists, but now you have a new version of the survey with a clean slate. You can make edits, re-distribute, and begin collecting new responses! Not bad at all!
December 22, 2010 - Safer survey submissions
People sometimes hit the Enter key while filling out the survey, which would submit the survey prematurely. With this fix, users must now click the Submit button to submit the survey, thereby avoiding accidental survey submissions. Yipee!
December 8, 2010 - Essay question character counter & error handling
Bob always allowed for rather large entries for essay questions responses, but if a respondent decided to write a very large entry that surpassed Bob's limit, they would get a confusing error and would lose their entire entry when submitting the survey. Ouch! This only happened once to our knowledge, but no fun at all! We therefore added a counter so people know the limit as they type. If they go over the limit and click Submit, they are presented with an error message, but all of their data entered to that point is preserved. That Bob, always looking to make everyone happy!
Whew, that was quite a bit of work. Still, we at SurveyBob.com are always looking to the next cool features. Keep your eyes open for updates in coming months! If you have any great ideas, feel free to submit them to us via the Contact link in SurveyBob.com

New SurveyBob.com Release - Forced Ranking Questions
Bob recently poked his head out of the lab with a decidedly clever look on his face, announcing that he now supports Forced Ranking questions! This allows you to create questions listing a number of options and asking people to rank their top choices. The best way to appreciate this new question type is to see an example:

It is really easy to do! All you need to do is add a new Matrix question to your survey, then check the Forced Ranking box. Bob does the rest!
